Postal Prices

If you have recently received a package from Peakrill and have had to pay extra postage when it arrived, please email us and we’ll sort something out for you.

As a “small business owner” who posts out a lot of stuff, I really ought to keep up-to-date on changes in postal rates.

I was aware that 1st class stamps went up on 2nd October, but 2nd class stayed the same, and as all of my stuff goes out 2nd class, I’d assumed that was that. Except… it appears that “large letter” rates have changed for 2nd class, and all of my stuff is also “large letter”. Due to Sod’s Law, I’ve had a huge upsurge in orders in the last couple of weeks (a big thank you to the many people who’ve recently bought Terry Howard’s Inner City Round Walk of Sheffield, largely thanks to this article in Look Up Sheffield and this article in Round At Bill’s Mothers) and I think that many of them have been sent out with insufficient postage on.

Also sod’s law: I recently spent a ridiculous amount of money on stamps (you know, those sticky paper things), because the Royal Mail do some really nice special editions, and I think it’s nice to receive packages with fancy stamps on. As part of the 2nd October increase, Royal Mail also seem to have increased the difference between the price of paper stamps and buying online (previously online was only cheaper for parcels). I’m still glad I bought the stamps, because they’re lovely, but… ouch. More money down the drain.
